Windows 11 Upgrade Now Available to Install for Free

Microsoft’s free Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10 is now available to install but first, you will need to check if your computer meets the minimum requirements.

Windows 11 main requirements are an Intel 8th Gen Coffee Lake or Zen 2 CPUs and up, TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) support, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

With the roll out, the free upgrade won’t be offered to all existing PCs that are officially supported just yet. All existing and eligible PCs should be offered the Windows 11 upgrade by mid-2022, according to Microsoft.

If you want to upgrade to Windows 11, first Check that your PC is officially supported through Microsoft’s PC Health Check app

Then, if pass all the checks and are advised you can install Windows 11, it’s best you back up all of your important documents, apps, and data first before doing any major update.  If you have system backup software like Acronis True Image or Macrium Reflect, that’s even better.

Next, on your Windows 10 computer, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and then check if there is an update.

If it is available, you will see the Upgrade to Windows 11 is ready, click on Download and install

If you don’t see the free Windows 11 upgrade, and your PC is supported, then go to the Windows 11 Installation Assistant page and you can download the Installation Assistant to get things started.
