Microsoft Forcing Users to Update to New Outlook App

For almost a year, Microsoft have been urging users of Outlook to switch over to the new Outlook app with the current Outlook now been renamed to ‘classic’ with support to end in 2029.

Microsoft are now starting to force the update to the new Outlook App and you are likely to see the following message ‘Try the new Outlook for Windows’ below when this happens with the options to ‘Switch now’ or ‘Switch next time’.

Here is another example of a message you could see with the switch to the new outlook and a ‘switch now’ button.

Switch to the new outlook messageTo stop this message appearing every time you start outlook, you will need to select ‘Switch now’ and do update to the new Outlook app which will mean you have to re-add your email account(s).

Once you have updated to the new Outlook, if you do not like the layout or are encountering issues, then simply click on the tab next to New Outlook and it will then change you back to Outlook Classic.
